Eve secures seed funding from DN Capital and FJ Labs to revolutionise sleep
eve – a new e-commerce venture launched to disrupt the mattress industry by delivering premium quality mattresses direct to consumers at a fraction of high street prices – today announced the closing of its £330,000 seed round. The initial funding was provided by FJ Labs, whose previous investments include Viagogo and Zesty, and DN Capital, who have backed Shazam and Apsmart.
eve was set up by four experts in their fields comprising: Jas Bagniewski, the ex-head of Zalando UK, co-founder of Groupon UK and other successful e-commerce businesses; Joe Moore, a logistics expert previously at Deloitte; James Fryer, a mattress expert with years of product development experience; and Kuba Wieczorek a branding and creative professional who came via Soho’s advertising hub and Channel 4s Creative arm. eve’s industry-leading team are hugely passionate about a product that they believe will transform an archaic industry for the benefit of consumers.
“At eve we set out to create the world’s most comfortable mattress, designed, engineered and made in the UK, at a price that’s fair. We’re so confident of our product that we give a risk and hassle free 100 days to try the mattress at home. And by selling online, we cut out unnecessary costs like retail stores and sales people meaning the mattress costs a third of what an equivalent would cost on the high street ” said Jas Bagniewski, CEO.
The team at eve bring years of product, operational and branding expertise and having already sold over 75,000 mattresses online they saw that the whole industry was ripe for a shake-up. Traditionally memory foam has been the premium material in the mattress world, shaping itself naturally to the sleeper’s body and providing support. eve have built on the existing foam technology by combining premium memory foam layers with latex which adds ‘bounce’ and a cooler sleeping experience. eve are so confident of their product they only offer one option.
“Eve brings together a highly skilled and experienced team with an innovative yet simple product in a £27 billion market that’s ripe for disruption. We are very excited to be the first institutional investors in eve and to be part of the journey” said Tom Bradley, Partner, DN Capital
